Enough Information Given to Family and Friends

The involvement of family and friends is an essential element to promote the wellbeing of our patients. It is important to inform and include family and friends in the decision of treatment and future care as they are often responsible for that care.

The solutions below showcase how some health services are working to improve in this area.

Solutions

Describes the development of a Parent and Carer Resource Centre (the Centre), aimed at providing information, support and 'time out' for parents/carers.

Families have been included in rounds at Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital. This is working well, saving nurse’s time and making patients and families happier.

The Institute for Family-Centered Care inspire and promotes health leaders to have a greater understanding and ability to provide patient- and family-centered care in our health service.
