Shorter Waits for Upper Limb Clinic
Patients at the Upper Limb Outpatient Clinic at Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) were seen in order of referral. The demand from new referrals exceeded the capacity creating long waiting lists and delays in patient care.
To address this problem FMC developed a questionaire to survey patients to identify need and appropriate care pathway. Patients are treated in order of need, not referral. This tool is embedded in the triage process. They also employed an additional physiotherapist to support the new pathway.
