Welcome to the February edition of ARCHI Net News
Welcome to the first edition of ARCHI Net News for 2009. Change is in the spirit of 2009 and ARCHI is definitely changing. You may have noticed some differences to how we've labelled sections of our site, we are in the process of making it easier for you to find the resources you want.
You will see more changes in the next few weeks, so stay tuned. Thanks to everyone who gave us feedback on our new site structure and participated in our usability tests.
Happy reading from the ARCHI Team!

Transformation of Care Pilot Project - Quick Fractured Neck of Femur
Western Health, Victoria identified a number of opportunities for process improvement in service delivery for patients with fractured neck of femur. The scope of the project was emergency admission to disposition to ward or operating theatre. The project was completed in 16 weeks.
They implemented a number of changes to transform the care in this process, resulting in improvements to waiting, queues, errors, transportation, motion, over processing, over production, not using the skills and expertise of people doing the job.
Fetal welfare, Obstetric emergency, Neonatal resuscitation Training (FONT) Project
The FONT project plans to build educational capacity within the NSW Area Health Services and to provide a consistent statewide approach to educational provision focusing on these important clinical components of maternity service provision.
The aims of the project are to improve the safety of maternity services and provide education in fetal welfare, obstetric emergency and neonatal resuscitation to clinicians, registered midwives and student midwives, using appropriate tools.
Can you Help?
ARCHI runs an enquiry service for members, where we tap into the fabulous resource that is the knowledge, expertise and experience of our membership. Below are the current questions:
- Would anyone have details of a remote area service model comprising emergency services and community health services, including community visits?
- Does anyone have post-anaesthetic guidelines in a rural setting, particularly in relation to transport?
- Has anyone implemented Magnet Hospital principles?
If you can help, or want to ask a question of your own, contact Catherine Knight, ARCHI Content Support Manager, admin@archi.net.au Phone: (02) 4926 7992.
