Welcome to the December edition of ARCHI Net News
While most people have been winding down towards the end of the year, the ARCHI Team has been winding up, with two ARCHI events and two events managed for our members in the past month!
The ARCHI office will be closed from Friday 19 December 2008 to Monday 5 January 2009 as we take a break to celebrate. Thanks for all your support over the past year, and we look forward to your participation in 2009. Best wishes for the festive season.
Happy reading from the ARCHI Team!
In this issue...
ARCHI Innovations in Action - Improving Patient and Carer Experience Workshop
This workshop explored why human experience of health care services is important; and how it can be measured and improved.
We heard from Dr Robin Youngson whose work on compassion in healthcare is influencing international debate and hear case studies of Australian teams who have actually measured and improved patient and carer experience.
The Solutions : Improving the Patient and Carer Experience section on ARCHI was officially launched. This is a collection of resources that target the areas for improvement identified by patients and carers.

ARCHI Innovations in Practice Pain Management Workshop
This workshop showcased new innovations in clinical practice, shared experiences and lessons learnt and provided practical strategies, tools and tips to improve clinical practice.
The workshop aimed to improve quality of care, patient safety and efficiency in Pain Management.
Download the presentations from this workshop and participate in our pain management discussion forum.
Patient Flow Forum - It's Everyone's Responsibility
The 2008 NSW Health Patient Flow Forum "It's Everyone's Responsibility" focused on the demand and capacity challenges over the past year and presented systems to help overcome them. The forum presented international and home grown strategies.

Walgan Tilly Implementation State Forum
The Walgan Tilly project is now well into the first stage of implementation of local, prioritised solutions.
This forum presented project status and successes and progressed the development of a model of care that is appropriate for Aboriginal people and their families who have or are at risk of chronic disease.
Can you Help?
ARCHI runs an enquiry service for members, where we tap into the fabulous resource that is the knowledge, expertise and experience of our membership. Below are the current questions:
- Does anyone have post-anaesthetic guidelines in a rural setting, particularly in relation to transport?
- Has anyone implemented Magnet Hospital principles?
If you can help, or want to ask a question of your own, contact Catherine Knight, ARCHI Content Support Manager, admin@archi.net.au Phone: (02) 4926 7992.
