Assistant use in MAU

We are in the early stages of opening a MAU unit here at Robina on the Gold Coast. My question is has there been a role description designed for Allied Health Assistants within these units? thank you

Hospital after hours social work trauma response

Hi, I work at rural and remote Armidale Hospital as a crisis and general social worker. We currently have no after hours paid service unless there is a trauma. I am searching for templates/protocols that define trauma not only to patients but also staff. Also which department pays for the service.

Aged care policies, guidelines, procedures

I am looking for policies, guidelines or procedures developed at other health services for the elderly (over 65 or over 70) in the community setting or low level care/nursing home facilities in Australia (in order to prevent re-admission to hospital):

1. administration of medication by RNs

2. taking blood, IV cannulation

3. insertion of indwelling catheters/insertion of suprapublic catheters

HR staff ratios to staff headcount

I am currently undertaking a project in workforce and people planning in the HR department and I am trying to obtain other organisation’s ratio of HR staff (not including payroll) to staffing headcount or if not possible, staffing FTE, specifically in the private and public health industry but am open to any other industry, again, both public or private.

Patient road transfer

Does anyone use a prioritisation tool for patient road transfer? We are looking at between hospital transfer for diagnostic purposes and inter hospital transfer for ongoing assement and care from a rural hospital.

  • There is a measurement tool that we have used (pre- and post) when we've run relapse prevention groups. A very simple, two-page, self -report which focuses on changes in substance use (amounts) and relative confidence in maintaining positive changes (if made).

Social worker bed ratio

Can anyone offer a current ratio for number hospital beds per social worker, in both general ward and in ICU, please?

  • I believe that about 7 years ago the ratio was 1 social worker to 30 beds in a general ward and 1 to 20 in ICU.
