Service relates to improvements in the continuity and effectiveness of care for older people in the acute sector, critical care and short-stay surgery. Also included are innovations in improving the health care of children, the care of chronic conditions, continuity of care, community health care, patient education, consumer involvement in health care-related matters, Emergency Department efficiencies, ambulance services, communication between general practitioners and hospitals, admissions, pre-admission clinics, in-hospital activities, management of ambulatory and outpatient services, case conferencing, discharge planning, and approaches to the delivery of health services in rural and remote areas.

 

Service is divided into the following subheadings:

  • Acute Care - Acute Care includes topics on innovations in acute and critical care and short-stay surgery.

  • Aged Care - A list of resources about Aged Care which covers innovations in the improvement of the continuity and effectiveness of care for older people in the acute sector and in the community.

  • Allied Health - Allied Care relates to innovations in all areas of allied health, including physiotherapy, speech therapy, dietetics, occupational therapy and complementary therapies.

  • Children's Services - List of material used in the Children's Services catagory and is about improving the health care of children and includes topics on maternal and perinatal care.

  • Chronic Care - A list of articles in the Chronic Care catagory which relates to innovations in the care of chronic conditions.

  • Community Services - Community Services includes the continuity of care, hospital in the home issues, community health nurses, and multipurpose centres.

  • Consumer Involvement - Consumer Involvement covers patient education, communication between carer and patient, and consumer involvement in health and other related matters.

  • Emergency Services - Emergency Services refers to all aspects of improving safety, quality and efficiency in the Emergency Department. It includes topics related to ambulance services and ways to decrease demand on emergency services.

  • Inpatients - Inpatients covers topics on admissions, pre-admission clinics, as well as in-hospital activities and services.

  • Mental Health - Mental Health presents innovations in mental health care, including age-related mental health care.

  • Primary Care / General Practice - Primary Care / General Practice covers case conferencing, discharge planning, and other areas related to general practice.

  • Rural & Remote - Rural & Remote covers innovative approaches to the delivery of health services in rural and remote areas.
