Abstract
The difficulty of running regular buses to geographically remote areas from Murwillumbah during school holidays and weekends is complicated by government regulation, contractual obligation and cost. Therefore the access to affordable public transport for young people who live in or near the villages surrounding Murwillumbah during school holidays and weekends has been a long term problem In order to identify the major areas of concern a public transport forum was organised by the Youth Health Liaison representative from Community Health in conjunction with the Ministry of Transport. The result was funding of $15,280 to set up and run a subsidised transport system for transport disadvantaged young people from Villages in and around Murwillumbah.
