Abstract
The Resuscitation Training Committee (RTC) at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW) reviews and recommends updates to current resuscitation practice at the Hospital.
During 2006 the committee was involved in the purchase of sixteen new defibrillators to replace the Hospital’s existing ones.
The committee also reviewed the recently released International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and Australian Resuscitation Committee (ARC) guidelines and made recommendations for the update of resuscitation practices and policies at CHW.
The training of 946 clinical staff on these guidelines and the safe use of the new defibrillators was combined in Project Push Hard Push Fast which ran from February to April 2006, followed by the immediate implementation of the new guidelines and the placement of the new defibrillators into clinical areas.
