Abstract

Review of IIMS data found that staff are familiar with the technical aspects of logging an incident, however there was confusion regarding what constituted a Justice Health (JH) incident.  An audit of PIP notifications also highlighted that staff had an understanding of the principles of practice improvement but they required assistance with using data to identify improvement opportunities.

One-day workshops were developed and conducted across eight sites statewide.  Evaluations of the workshops show an increase in the level of understanding in using IIMS and identifying improvement opportunities.  For example, the level of understanding of a JH incident and using IIMS data to identify improvement opportunities increased by 71% (n=84) and 41% respectively as a result of the education program.
