Bundle Monitoring Model (BuMM™) - Integrating Professional and Improvement Knowledge using a Scientific Approach

Northern Sydney and Central Coast Area Health Service

This project was entered in the 2007 NSW Health Awards, Building a Sustainable Health Workforce category.

Contact: Lorraine Dorrington

Abstract

BuMM™ assists in delivering high quality healthcare by increasing skill and capacity to combine professional knowledge with improvement knowledge within a scientific framework through:

  • Promoting evidence-based interventions;
  • Describing a simple, robust, yet comprehensive generic measurement/ improvement system;
  • Integrating governance and improvement structures.

A trial by the Safer Systems Saving Lives (SSSL) projects proved the model achieved its aims.

Rapid Area adoption and early interest externally is testament to its success.
