The first NSW Health Awards were made in 1998/99. While the initial strong focus was on quality issues, the scope of the Awards has since been broadened. For example, Performance Awards were introduced in 2004 to recognise improved performance, particularly the efforts of frontline staff to address waiting lists, access block and off stretcher time. A Best Innovation to Improve Patient Care and Patient Journeys category was introduced in 2006. The Award categories have been completely revised for 2007 to align with the Strategic Directions of NSW Health.

The 2007 Awards

The NSW Health Awards continue to demonstrate our commitment to recognising and sharing knowledge about excellence in healthcare and improving the performance of the NSW Health system. The Awards night (12 October 2007) and Expo (11-12 October 2007), to be held at the Australian Technology Park, Redfern, are key events on the NSW Health calendar, formally recognising and rewarding projects, initiatives and approaches that are producing measurable improvements.

The 2007 NSW Health Awards continue to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of NSW Health teams to the high standards and performance levels of the system.
