Abstract
The development of a clinical network as a method to address restricted patient access to rehabilitation services in a significant region of western NSW is presented. The primary focus is the introduction of formal rehabilitation services into two small multi casemix hospitals, with expertise from an existing service. The requirements for effective networking, resource development, academic support in education and research to engender culture change are identified as key elements for successful implementation of new service categories.
