Abstract

A group of workers in the Population Health, Planning and Performance Directorate (PHPPD) established a Global Warming Action Committee (GWAC) to respond to the risk of climate change.  Terms of Reference and an Action Plan have been endorsed by staff and management.  The Lismore site achieved a 32.2% reduction in energy use in the first three months of operation and a 20.1% reduction in the following three months, exceeding the annual target of 15%.  PHPPD will lead by example and recommend strategies for adoption within NCAHS and NSW Health, and disseminate these to the broader community.

The NCAHS Executive have commended the GWAC and future Executive meetings will consider how best to address Global Warming across the NCAHS.
